Project 365: Day Four

I think that the gorgeous subjects in the photo make up for my lack of proper flash compensation and framing: my sister-in-law, friend M, and my favorite child.
By the way: happy summer solstice!
Project Last Day On Earth/Project 365: Day Three

Yesterday, while my son was in an absolute snit and I was almost missing the tequila haze that was my early 20s, I had an idea: how would I react to all of this nuttiness if it were my last day alive? I was sure that the tantrums and general insanity wouldn’t matter quite so much to me.
To prove this to myself, I decided to make today “Project: Last Day On Earth.” There were stipulations, such as that I would spend the time with the ones I love the most within our financial means, i.e. no throwing things off the balcony and then taking off for Melbourne. I would also chronicle the day in pictures, which is something I wouldn’t do if it were my last day, because I would want to be in the moment and not behind the camera.
Well, never underestimate the combined forces of a toddler’s tantrums, PMS and other people’s bratty kids. I didn’t take any pictures, aside from the one above (hello, hair that turned out the way I wanted!), lost my patience more than a few times and realized that I really should have thanked my parents for their exquisite patience while raising me.
The above paragraph makes it sound like the day was a wash, which it wasn’t. There was a lot of good that I would have been happy to call my last moments, such as reading with my boy and watching him ascend the ladder at the local park.
I’ll have to try this project again on another day.
Project 365: Day Two

I probably would have achieved better colors if I’d used my DSLR, but that’s not the camera I bring with me when on walks with my son. I have friends who take great and vivid pictures with their point-and-shoots, but I am obviously not one of them. Yet.

and too cold to play ball
so we sat in the house.
We did nothing at all.”

About This Site (Page. Donkey Show. Whatever.)
This page (etc. See title) came into being after a discussion with my friend, Rachel. We were talking about our various photo endeavors, which led to an exchange about how we’d both pondered starting a photo blog. I said that I would if she would, she said that she would if I would and, like that time we were at the Gap and bought more than we intended, my blog was born.
RACHEL! Where is your blog?
